Thought i would update all those 16v turbo boys who are thinking about or going to get an EVO chip.
Well my advice is DO IT NOW.
Ok, my car is running standard exhaust with the cat removed, Evo chip, cold air feed and that is all.
First impression of the chip is the huge increase in power. 1st and 2nd are rapid. I'm definitely getting below 6 second 0-60 times and that was in the wet. 1.45 bar of boost in 2nd is brilliant. But the most noticable difference in the car is the power in 3rd 4th and 5th. And to be honest 5th gear is frightening. In 3rd and 4th the boost gauge hits 1.5bar and holds there until the revs increase and it slowly dropped to 1.2 bar. But 5th gear is just crazy. I was flooring the car on the motorway tonight and 2500k revs the turbo starts spinning and at 3k the my boost gauge was of the top of the scale. I think it was overboosting at about 1.7bar and once that hits the road you are flying. The boost is instantly dropped back to 1.5 bar where again it holds. It felt like the car was in 3rd gear when it was actually in 5th.
Really need to get the car dyno'ed but first impressions are that Barry at Evo was true to hit word with the 250bhp claims.
So all in all, 16v turbo owners need to be getting their cars chipped.
